  • A commercial Bellringing "experience"
Friends in the City - a group of Philadelphia based seniors who are involved in a variety of activities/courses etc. contacted us about a Saturday morning visit. There were about a dozen who came, listened and chimed. They paid a nominal fee and we expanded the awareness of bellringing in the city. Afterwards the group had brunch with some of us at our local where we continued our conversation. No new recruits, but a very enjoyable session. This could definitely be repeated several times a year for different social groups.
  • Ringing Courses Value-For-Money (RW Letter)
Simon's comment about "experienced ringers teaching bell handling rather than helping at the surprise major practice" is correct. Many of those "star" ringers, unfortunately, do not have a clue on how to teach handling to new recruits. They would provide a better service working with ringers on learning difficult methods and on conducting. Leave the handling training to those who know how to do it.
  • Wedding ringing charges
Here in Philly we charge $250 for weddings. This is whether we ring before, after or both and whether we are 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 ringers. This money goes into our "ringers bank account". If any of us have to pay for parking at our Center City tower, it would be reimbursed out of the fee collected. Easy, peasy!
