I :up: with that - my point is that having to make posts such this one to just express agreement is tedious. You are right - on other platforms, :up: are pretty universally used to express agreement, not as an expression of admiration or affection :vomit:

why do you need to ‘express agreement’? It’s a discussion not a decision making forum.

Because that's what people do in a discussion.

I agree that there are times when I would like to be able to ‘thumbs up’ a post to show that I agree with their point without having to reply and create a post to say so.
A relatively small number of people in the forum regularly reply to posts and I get that the point is to encourage discussion but enabling people to easily show support for a view expressed or for an idea posted could be helpful.

Probably but I don't expect it to be recorded. I also wave my hands round while talking but I don't expect that to be recorded either.
