  • Height of sallies
That's an interesting question as to when ropemakers start to make sallies shorter for small bells and longer for big bells. They definitely do, but you don't tend to see shorter sallies until you get onto bells under about 5cwt. Is @Philip Pratt able to comment?

Fresh air for concentration is very noticeable if you ring long peals of things that are complicated. There's a very clear correlation between the number of trips and getting enough air into the room.
  • Ringing for COP 26
This has definitely got a lot more traction than we orginally thought it might. I did an interview for BBC radio yesterday which they said they were going to give to local radio stations to use as part of their local coverage.
At moseley we are going to get our youngsters to do this particularly bit of ringing.
  • Take Up
Do you think that is something that has changed over time in your experience, or has it been forever thus? It is definitely the case that if you have a ringing session, taking 10 minute out to discuss theory or demonstrate something on the whiteboard feels like a loss of previous ringing time.

This is really a tech support question! I am not yet convinced that this generates an email alert if a post you make receives a reply. I have that option ticked in my preferences but I have not had any emails.

Was Wilf's productions facility / business bought by someone?

I don't agree I'm afraid. The absolute CO2 level is important because that is a measure of the ventilation. For instance if during ringing your CO2 meter has gone to a steady state 400, then you have decent venitlation that is refreshing the air often enough to keep the CO2 level at 400, which is good. If the CO2 level in steady state is 1000 then that indicates that the ventilation is poor because the CO2 being generated by the band is only being matched by the removal of CO2 by fresh air.

Safeguarding category is planned - it was going to be a closed group just for Safeguarding Officers but it should like there should be a more open group as well.

I have now got this on my mobile as well as laptop and it does work fine. When selecting the system to use for this some services with apps we’re tried but they weren’t as good as this.

Yes John there is a lot of detial on it on the Covid guidance section of the Council website, inclduing now recommendations of good CO2 meters to use.

I have done quite a few tests myself which generally accord with what I would have expect - well ventilated ringing chambers not being a problem, and poorly ventilated ringing chambers being a problem.

I have had quite a bit of feedback from others as well, for instance from AJB last week, including from towers where the CO2 readings have been very high. What may be happening in response to very high readings is ringers deciding that the meter must be wrong, or that it doesn't really matter!

At one tower near me, Selly Oak, which is a small and unventilated ringing chamber, the reading went up to 1000 in one burst of wedding ringing.

I have just signed in and wanted to make sure that you get an external email if you are mentioned or get a reply. It does seem that if you have that ticked in Preferences then you get an alert.

I agree that an overall 'New comments on all forums' area could be useful.
